Safeguarding & DSLs

West Midlands Education and Skills is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Young People and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, learners, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

This means

  • providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
  • protecting children from maltreatment, inside or outside the home, including online
  • preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

The school trains all staff and governors in safeguarding; all West Midlands Education and Skills staff and volunteers have enhanced DBS checks.   We also encourage students to learn how to safeguard themselves with online safety guidance through embedded teaching.

Ofsted state, The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”

There are CCTV cameras around the school. CCTV images are used to ensure the safety of pupils, visitors and staff and the protection of West Midlands Education and Skills grounds and contents. Parents are asked to contact School first if they wish to meet with a staff member and on visiting School to report directly to Reception. We will act to ensure that West Midlands Education and Skills remains a safe place for pupils, for staff, and for other members of our community.
